Ingredients
- Italian Sausage (1 lb, sweet)
- Ground Beef (1 lb)
- Onion (1/2 onion, minced)
- Garlic (3 cloves, minced)
- Crushed tomatoes (28oz can)
- Tomato Sauce (12 oz can)
- Tomato Paste (12 oz can)
- Water (1/2 cup)
- Sugar (2 tbsp)
- Parsley (4 tbsp, fresh, chopped)
- Basil (1 tbsp chopped (fresh), 2 tsp (dried))
- Italian Seasoning (2 tsp)
- Salt and Pepper
- Lasagna noodles (12)
- Ricotta (16oz, whole milk)
- Mozzarella (3/4 lb, shredded)
- Parmesan (3/4 cup, grated)
- Egg (1)
Steps
- Cook sausage, ground beef, onions, and garlic in a large pot over medium high heat until cooked through.
- Add crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, water. Add sugar, parsley, basil, salt, Italian seasoning, pepper. Simmer for 1 1/2 hours, covered, stirring occasionally.
- Bring a large pot to boil. Cook lasagna noodles for 1-2 min less than the package says. Drain and rinse with cold water.
- In a medium bowl, combine ricotta, egg, parsley, salt.
- Preheat oven to 375 F.
- Add a layer of sauce to the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Add noodles lengthwise. Add ricotta, mozarella, meat sauce, then parmesan.
- Repeat until out of noodles, and top with rest of mozarella and parmesan.
- Spray a piece of foil and cover the pan.
- Bake for 25 minutes, remove foil and bake for 25 more minutes. Let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
